Acoustical features

Superior Sound Proofing
- Party walls are 2” x 6” staggered studs on 2” x 8” sill and head plate, minimizes direct connection from one wall to another, on one side drywall is mounted on resilient channels (see cutaway), cavity is filled with Batt insultation
- Plumbing pipes are isolated by maintaining clearances from framing members or by resiliently mounting plumbing elements
Stairwells
- Staggered stud walls, carpeted stair stringers are mounted 1/4” away from adjacent walls to mitigate noise transfer
Floor-Ceiling Construction
- Special pads under carpet and hard surfaces 3/4” gypsum under layment throughout. Ceilings have 2 layers of 5/8” sheet rock mounted on resilient channels, cavity is filled with Batt insulation
- Electrical outlets located on a party wall are at least two stud spaces apart, recessed light fixtures are encased in drywall for fire and acoustical reasons
- Elevators are located within a concrete shaft which is filled with studs and drywall
